Which Streaming Services Give You the Most Bang for Your Buck

Google’s recent price hike of YouTube Premium in several countries has left many users reevaluating their streaming services. With so many options available, it can be tricky to decide which services to keep and which to cancel. A study by Searchbloom analyzed historical price data for the top 10 streaming services in the US to determine which services offer the most content for each dollar spent.

Ranking the Top Streaming Services by Cost-Effectiveness

The study found that Amazon Prime Video takes the top spot, offering 1,440 titles for every dollar spent per month. Netflix comes in second with 518 titles per dollar, while Disney+ ranks fourth and Max seventh. Apple TV+ is the least cost-effective, with only 23.8 titles per dollar spent.

The study also found that Crunchyroll has not seen a price increase since its launch in 2020 and offers 191 titles per dollar spent. On the other hand, Max prices have increased by 1.8% per year, from $14.99 to $15.99.

What to Consider When Canceling a Streaming Service

While cost-effectiveness is an important factor, it’s not the only thing to consider when deciding which streaming services to keep. You may prefer the original content on Netflix or Max over the licensed content on Amazon Prime Video. You may also be subscribed to multiple services at once and need to decide which ones to prioritize.

A similar study that looks at the number of originals per dollar spent would be interesting to see. Additionally, a study that measures the quality of originals relative to the money spent would be even more valuable.

Ultimately, the decision to cancel a streaming service depends on your individual preferences and viewing habits.
