The recent launch of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been a monumental success, and the game’s publisher is already teasing what’s in store for the future. According to Tim Willits, the CEO of Saber Interactive, the success of the game brings big expectations, and the studio is already thinking about potential story DLC or even a full-on sequel.
Willits shared his thoughts on the success of the game, saying that it can be a double-edged sword. “When you have a big hit and you have that internet kind of popularity, there’s more passion and there’s more responsibility for the quality that you do,” he said. “And you look at yourself through a different lens. And sometimes that success lens can be a little dangerous because then you get so paranoid about making sure everything is great that you overstress about things.”
With the game’s success, the developers can now “dream bigger,” according to Willits. This includes the possibility of story DLC for the game and a potential sequel, Space Marine 3. The game’s director, Dmitry Grigorenko, has already proposed some story ideas that could be developed into DLC or a sequel. While nothing is set in stone, Willits is confident that the studio will not disappoint Warhammer fans in the future.
