Imagine being able to fully immerse yourself in the Star Wars universe, feeling like you’re standing inside a Star Wars cantina or zipping along the open plains of Toshara on a Speeder Bike. This is exactly what the REAL VR mod for Star Wars Outlaws offers, and it’s an incredible experience.
The REAL VR mod, created by Luke Ross, allows players to toggle between first-person and third-person perspectives. During certain sections of the game, such as climbing and stealth takedowns, the camera will pull back to show Kay Vess in action, before pushing back in again to put you back in the driver’s seat. The mod also includes first-person Speeder chases, which are an epic experience.
The level of detail in the game’s scenery, props, and alien life forms is incredibly impressive, making the areas you explore feel alive and immersive. Being able to stand eye-to-eye with a Stormtrooper and take in all the little details on their armor is a unique experience.
The mod doesn’t include motion controls, but can be played with a controller. This doesn’t detract from the experience, as it feels like playing the game in flat screen, but with the added dimension of actually feeling like you’re standing there. The first-person view point just feels right, like it should have been there all along.
The REAL VR mod is easily one of the best implementations of Luke’s mod so far, and it makes the game feel incredibly immersive. Thanks to this mod, a realistic, busy, and open Star Wars world that you can feel like you’re actually inhabiting is no longer a galaxy far, far away.
