Nintendo DS Games to Get Online Multiplayer on Delta Emulator

The Delta emulator for iOS is about to get even better with the upcoming addition of online multiplayer in Nintendo DS games. This feature was announced by Delta developer Riley Testut, who shared a video of a Mario Kart DS race between two people being played on the emulator.

How Online Multiplayer Will Work

Nintendo shut down the DS’s online services in 2014, so we were curious to know how the online services will work on the Delta emulator. According to Testut, the online services will be based on melonDS’ online support, which connects to 3rd-party Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection servers.

Key Features of Online Multiplayer:

  • Delta users will be able to connect to other Delta users and users on real devices who are using these 3rd-party Nintendo WFC servers.
  • The feature is currently limited to Nintendo DS games, but all Nintendo DS games with Nintendo WFC are supported.
  • The Delta team doesn’t plan to host its own server, so online multiplayer will be free when it’s available for everyone.
  • Availability of Online Multiplayer

The online multiplayer feature is coming first in a beta version of Delta for Patreon subscribers. Unfortunately, there’s no public release date yet. However, this means you have plenty of time to get some Mario Kart DS practice in.

Overall, the addition of online multiplayer to the Delta emulator is an exciting development for Nintendo DS fans. We’ll have to wait and see when the feature will be available to the public, but it’s definitely something to look forward to.
