Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is set to launch on November 19th, 2024, and preorders are now open through the Microsoft Store. The latest installment of the franchise will be available on Xbox and PC, offering several exciting updates, including new aircraft and a more realistic-looking simulated earth.
One of the most significant improvements in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is its reduced installation size. The current version of the game requires over 130GB of storage, but the new version will only need about 30GB. This reduction in size is made possible by the use of cloud streaming technology, which allows the game to stream in higher detailed areas only when necessary.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will feature a new career system that mimics an aviation career. Players will start by taking flying lessons and can eventually take on jobs like search and rescue missions, aerial firefighting, and commercial flights. The game will also include new aircraft, such as hot air balloons, which are powered by a realistic soft body simulation. Other new aircraft include the Boeing 747-400 LCF Dreamlifter.
The game will also feature improved ground detailing, which will affect where and how some aircraft can land. This improvement will add to the overall realism of the game.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be available in several editions, and the Standard Edition will be available through Xbox Game Pass on launch day. The game’s reduced installation size will be a welcome relief for players who have limited storage space.
