The remake of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic hasn’t had much public progress since its announcement in 2021. There were even rumors that the KOTOR reboot was no longer in development. However, with developer Saber Interactive separating itself from Embracer Group, the company has secured a fresh round of investments to continue working on KOTOR and other projects.
Saber Interactive announced that private equity firms have made a significant equity investment in the company. This investment will allow Saber Interactive to retire its debt owed to Embracer Group after the buyout. The company will now have 13 different studios around the world, ensuring a smooth development process for its upcoming titles.
Although there’s still no release date for the KOTOR remake, the new investment and partnership will hopefully ensure a smoother development process. Aspyr Media was originally attached to handle the remake, but internal issues led to the project being placed on an indefinite hold. Saber Interactive joined the project in 2022, and with its immediate future now secure, fans of the original game can look forward to the remake’s eventual release.
