Google Photos Android Update: New Features and Redesign
Google Photos on Android is expected to receive a significant update soon, featuring a redesign and several new features. The update was discovered by Android Authority, who dug into the files of Google Photos version 6.94.
The app will reportedly gain two new search filters: “Most Recent” and “Best Match.” These filters will help users quickly locate their desired photos.
* Most Recent sorts search results chronologically, with the most recent images appearing at the top.
* Best Match finds photographs that closely match a certain keyword. For example, typing “Flower” into the search bar will bring up photos displaying a flower within a frame.
Scrollable albums may also appear above search results near the top.
A new feature called “Spotlight” was discovered, which can automatically edit videos down to key moments and apply effects. While little is known about Spotlight, it’s believed to offer preset editing profiles that can be enabled with a single tap.
Google may also make it easier to comment on shared albums. A new floating bar will allow users to add comments directly, making it simpler than the current method. However, this feature is still in development and not yet available.
