General Motors has announced that its electric vehicles can now use Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network across the United States. This integration has been in the works for over a year and marks a significant milestone in the expansion of public charging access for GM’s EV owners.
The partnership between GM and Tesla is a win for customers, as it dramatically expands GM’s overall public charging access. This move makes GM one of the first legacy automakers to directly integrate with Tesla’s proprietary charging tech and connector.
GM is also involved with the IONNA charging venture alongside seven other major automakers to build high-powered charging locations nationwide. As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, this partnership is a significant step towards future-proofing GM’s electrification plans. Other automakers, including Ford and Rivian, have already started rolling out Tesla adapter programs, and more are set to follow suit in the coming years.
