Flaming Fowl Studios is back in the spotlight with its latest project, Konfronto, a comedic sci-fi auto battler. After a tumultuous April that saw the studio shelve its co-op RPG Ironmarked due to a lack of funding, Flaming Fowl is pinning its hopes on this self-funded title.
The studio, founded in 2016 by former members of Lionhead Studios, has a history of developing engaging titles like Fable Fortune and the acclaimed digital adaptation of Gloomhaven. With Konfronto, the remaining nine employees at the studio are taking a different approach, focusing on a small, strategy title that showcases their skills.
Flaming Fowl describes Konfronto as a “sci-fi roguelike auto battler” in which players command and upgrade an intergalactic carrier, battling it out in asynchronous multiplayer. The game will feature a unique combination system, with cargo items combining to create new technologies, offering countless combinations to explore.
The game is set to release on Steam early access later this year, with a playable demo arriving in October as part of Steam NextFest.
