Larian Studios has released astonishing statistics to mark the one-year anniversary of Baldur’s Gate 3, giving us a glimpse into the fascinating world of players and their gaming experiences.
Some remarkable statistics that stood out include:
• 141,600 players successfully completing the Honour Mode, a feat not easily achieved considering 1,223,305 unsuccessful playthroughs.
Astarion, the vampire, takes the top spot with 1.21 million players choosing to play as him. Close behind is Gale at 1.20 million and Shadowheart with 86 million players. Surprisingly, over 93% of players preferred creating their own custom character, with only 15% choosing the Dark Urge option.
Players showed a great interest in romance options, with:
• 75 million kisses across all companions
• Shadowheart receiving 27 million kisses
• Astarion receiving 15 million kisses
Less conventional romance stats also reveal some surprising facts:
• 658,000 players slept with the druid Halsin, mostly in his human form (70%).
• 1.1 million players romanced the Mind flayer, with 37% sticking to the tentacle form.
The statistics shared by Larian Studios are not only amusing but also insightful into the player base and their choices within the game. Despite the massive success and Game of the Year awards, the developer is moving on from the series, and there will be no future expansions, although a final major content patch is set to be released next month.
