Anker Power Bank Recall Due to Fire Risk

If you own an Anker power bank or are considering purchasing one, you should be aware of a recent recall issued by the company. Anker has recalled three of its popular power banks due to defective lithium-ion batteries that may pose a fire risk.

Reason for the Recall

According to Anker’s recall notice, certain lithium-ion batteries used in the Anker 334 MagGo Battery (PowerCore 10K), Anker Power Bank, and Anker MagGo Power Bank may overheat, causing melting of plastic components, smoke, and fire hazards. The defect is believed to be caused by a manufacturing issue.

Affected Products

The recall affects power banks with model numbers A1642, A1647, and A1652. If you own one of these power banks, check the bottom of the device for these model numbers.

What to Do If Your Device Is Recalled

If your device is recalled, follow these steps:

  • Store the device in a safe location.
  • Verify your serial number on Anker’s website and fill out the product recall information if it matches.
  • Stop using the device immediately. Do not throw the power bank in the trash or recycling bin. Dispose of it at a facility that accepts lithium batteries.
  • This is Anker’s second recall of 2024, following a similar recall in June. If you have any concerns about your Anker power bank, visit Anker’s website for more information.
